The Argonia Cup is an intercollegiate, high-power rocketry competition that has participants from across the country. The goal is to design, build, and fly a two-stage rocket with a payload of as many golf balls as possible. With a minimum of 9,000 feet of altitude needed to even qualify, this challenge balances impulse and weight consolidation to achieve the highest score possible.
Our rocket design has two stages that are both minimum diameter Utilizing two K motors in the booster and the sustainer that will propel our rockets to a top speed of around Mach 1.7, which puts us in hypersonic territory. In order to ensure that our fins do not shear off, we will be performing a carbon-fiber composite layup of our fin cans to ensure durability and stability.
